Timex's new affordable analog watch debuts with a gunmetal case, minimalistic teal dial

Timex has launched a new analog watch in India. The TWEG256SMU01 has a 43 mm gunmetal case and a teal dial, and it's listed on Timex India's own store at ₹5,696, taxes included. That comes to around $59.

The dial is the only reason to look twice at this one. It's a deep teal shade, with a printed minute track running around the outside, applied batons for the hours and a small seconds sub-dial down at 6 o'clock. That sub-dial gets a red-tipped hand — it's also the only spot of colour on the watch. The rest is quite plain. You just get the Timex logo under 12 o'clock.

The case is brass, not steel; the watch itself is finished in gunmetal, and measures 43 mm across and 11.96 mm thick. The bracelet is stainless-steel in a matching gunmetal finish, 22 mm wide, and closes with a push-button clasp. The crystal is mineral glass, and water resistance is rated at 30 m, so this one is for splashes only.

Inside, you get a quartz movement, and it runs on an SR927SW battery. Timex lists the watch as made in India and sells it with a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects.

There are two other versions on the same listing. One swaps the gunmetal for a gold tone with a matching bracelet, and the other has a black dial with a brown leather strap. The TWEG256SMU01 is available to order now from Timex India, and the retailer Just Watches has it at the same ₹5,696. Timex hasn't said whether the watch will reach other markets, though, and it isn't listed on the US, UK or European sites for now.
