Timex’s Marlin Chatham Automatic brings a mid-century-inspired 36mm cushion case, Breguet-style numerals, and a Miyota automatic movement to the brand’s affordable dress-watch collection. Now available in the US, UK, and Europe, the watch offers a 42-hour power reserve and an exhibition caseback.

Timex’s Marlin collection already offers several compelling dress watches, from the Marlin Quartz to the Marlin Mesh. But for anyone looking for an automatic option with a distinctly mid-century feel, the choices have been few and far between. That’s finally changing with the new Marlin Chatham Automatic, an elegant yet affordable dress watch that debuted in India earlier in September and is now available in the US, UK, and Europe.

The Chatham takes the Marlin’s familiar vintage-inspired formula in a new direction with a 36mm stainless-steel cushion case. It’s a shape we haven't seen on the Marlin before, but it feels right at home in the 1960s-inspired collection.

Timex is offering two variants, with both featuring applied Breguet-style Arabic numerals, a minute track around the perimeter, and baton hands. The stainless-steel model (TW2Y84300) has a white dial paired with silver numerals and hands and a black leather strap, while the gold-tone model (TW2Y84500) gets a black dial, gold-tone accents, and a brown leather strap.

Unlike other dress watches in the Marlin collection, the new Chatham is powered by a 21-jewel Miyota 8215 automatic movement with up to 42 hours of power reserve. There’s also a transparent caseback that lets you see the movement inside, which is something that you don’t always get at this price.

The watch is rated for 50 meters of water resistance and uses a mineral crystal, as you’d expect from an automatic offering under $300.

Both watches come equipped with natural leather straps sourced from the Leather Working Group and quick-release spring bars, which should make swapping the straps a breeze — especially if you aren't a fan of the brown leather band with the black dial combo.

Now out in the US, UK, and EU

Timex's new Marlin Chatham Automatic is now available for purchase in the US, UK, and EU. The white model is priced at $289 / £240 / €279, while the black/gold-tone variant will set you back $299 / £250 / €289. Both models are directly available from the brand's website and authorized retailers.
