Timex unveils new compact, lightweight watches with Roman numerals, rectangular cases

Timex has put two new Addison watches on its UK and European stores; both went live today. The TW2Y90600 features a silver-tone case with a silver dial and black leather. The TW2Y90700 is gold-tone, champagne and brown. British prices are £95 and £105. In euros that is €109 and €119.
Timex lists the case material as low lead brass, not steel, polished and plated to color. At this money that is a normal choice. It is also not what most people assume they are buying when a watch looks the way this one does. Brass also behaves differently against skin over a few years.
And it is small. The square case is 23 mm across and 8 mm deep, with 31.5 mm lug to lug and 12 mm lugs. The whole thing weighs merely 24 grams. Timex has tagged both as small — quite accurate.
The dial is tiny but clean. Full Roman numerals are visible the whole way round, the surface is textured to catch light, and a railroad minute track frames the edge. Mineral crystal covers it. Water resistance is 30 m, so handwashing and rain, nothing else.
Powering the watch is quartz on an SR626SW cell. The strap is leather Timex calls sustainable, on a plain buckle.
Americans cannot buy either one yet. Timex US has four Addisons on there, all on steel bracelets, between $139 and $159, and neither of the new leather references has turned up. Without the VAT in the equation, the British and European prices both land near $105 for the silver and $115 for the gold, so a US listing would undercut the bracelet versions if one ever arrives.
