Timex’s $279 Marlin Jet Chronograph with TAG Heuer Carrera Glassbox looks is finally available to buy in the US

When Timex introduced the Marlin Jet in 2024, its space-age take on the classic dress watch proved to be a big hit. The secret was a gloriously oversized domed crystal that covered the entire bezel, giving the affordable timepiece a look more commonly associated with high-end vintage watches.
In September, Timex expanded the Marlin Jet lineup with a pair of new chronographs, and while the sage-green model has been available since launch, US buyers can now finally get their hands on the white-and-blue version, which was up until now only available for pre-order.
The Timex Marlin Jet Chronograph TW2Y89900 is now available for purchase from Timex's US website for $279. It pairs a silver-white concave dial with contrasting navy subdials and a matching navy fabric strap made from recycled plastic. It’s a solid alternative to the sage-green model, which features white subdials and a stainless-steel bracelet and sells for $309.
As with the original Marlin Jet, the crystal is the star of the show. The domed Hesalite acrylic crystal stretches across the entire top of the 40mm stainless-steel case, covering the sloped tachymeter bezel and giving the watch its distinctive bubble-like profile. When viewed from the side, the curved crystal distorts and magnifies the dial in a way that feels decidedly retro-futuristic. It also brings to mind the TAG Heuer Carrera Glassbox, a far more expensive chronograph famous for its dramatic domed-shaped sapphire crystal.
The rest of the design is pretty much the same as the original Marlin Jet. There are pump-style pushers, a grooved crown bearing the retro Jet logo, and two recessed subdials at 3 and 9 o’clock for 24-hour time and elapsed chronograph minutes. A date window sits just above 6 o’clock, while the caseback gets concentric-circle detailing.
Inside, a meca-quartz movement combines quartz timekeeping with a mechanical chronograph module, delivering the smooth-sweeping action of a traditional chronograph hand without the expense of a fully mechanical movement. The watch also offers 50 meters of water resistance.
