Timex’s new pocket watch references a Hogwarts landmark, not just the Time Turner

Timex has added a new pocket watch to its Harry Potter range. The Time Turner, reference TW2Y99600, is listed at $349 in the United States and £290 in the United Kingdom. It is the only one of five new models in the collection that we have not already covered.
The case measures 48.5 mm across and 12 mm deep in gold-tone polished stainless steel. You get a hinged cover sculpted to mimic the Time Turner’s rings. Timex says the white dial takes its design from the Clock Tower at Hogwarts — it carries full Roman numerals around a spiral pattern at the centre. The caseback is engraved with the Harry Potter logo and the inside of the cover has a perlage finish. A single Albert chain comes with it.
If you see the specs, you'll find it a little hard to defend the price. Timex gives you a quartz movement running on an SR626SW cell, listed elsewhere as a Japanese-made caliber 221. The crystal is acrylic (for that nice polished look) and water resistance is 30 meters; Timex describes it as suitable for hand washing and little else. At $349 the watch costs the same as the 40 mm Time Turner chronograph and $70 more than the Sorcerer’s Stone model. For this money, you're getting a collectible with Timex's name on it that works, that's all.
British buyers are the luckier ones this time around: the £290 price includes 20 percent VAT. That becomes £242, or $322 — roughly eight percent under the American figure before sales tax is added.
Timex’s US website currently has a 30 percent promo running across the site, which is almost over at the time of writing this. Applied to this watch it would bring the price to around $244, though the code’s exclusions (and remaining duration) are worth checking before counting on it.
