Timex and Facer team up to bring the Marlin, Expedition, and T80 to Wear OS and Apple Watch

Facer has partnered with Timex to bring official digital versions of the American watchmaker's designs to smartwatches, starting with faces based on the Marlin, Expedition, and T80. The watch face platform announced the deal on September 29, and the collection is scheduled to go live this fall on Wear OS, Apple Watch, and other devices that run the Facer app.
Facer says the Timex collection will cover two sides of the watchmaker's catalogue, pairing faces inspired by its classic analog pieces with others drawn from its digital performance models. According to the company, each design is being optimized for everyday function as well as appearance.
The Marlin traces back to a mid-century Timex dress watch, which the brand revived as a 34mm hand-wound reissue in the late 2010s. The Expedition line carries Timex's rugged outdoor styling, while the T80 is a reissue of a 1980s digital watch with a rectangular segmented display and Indiglo backlight.
Facer CEO Ariel Vardi said Timex has shaped what a watch looks like for millions of people. "Now it gets to help define what a smartwatch looks like too," he said. Timex, founded in Waterbury, Connecticut, more than 170 years ago, built its name on affordable and durable watches, and Facer says the deal is part of a wider effort to help established watchmakers reach a younger generation of buyers.
Facer has not announced pricing for the Timex faces. The company lists Timex among the officially licensed collections heading to Facer Premium, its paid subscription tier, and users can follow the Timex profile in the app to be notified when the first drop goes live.
The collection will appear in Watch Brands, a new section of the Facer storefront dedicated to traditional watchmakers. That section already carries digital versions of popular models from MVMT, Maurice Lacroix and Fortis.
The Timex deal arrived alongside a redesign of the Facer app, which now sorts its library into For You, Entertainment, Watch Brands, Facer Originals, Health & Fitness and Sports. Entertainment hosts licensed faces from franchises including Fallout, Pac-Man, Star Trek and Tetris. Facer says Angry Birds and Sonic the Hedgehog collections are also on the way, with the Sonic set now in active production.
Facer Originals is a new program for independent designers whose work is available only on Facer. The redesign also gives more space to Looks, a community feature where users share how they pair watch faces with bands and outfits, and Facer plans further destinations, including seasonal ones.
Existing Facer users can reach the new storefront by updating the app on Android or iOS. The platform supports Wear OS watches, Apple Watch, and a range of other smartwatches, and the Timex faces will be added once the collection launches.
