Seiko’s new limited edition “Edo Purple” diver-style watch reaches more markets

Seiko is turning 145 this year, and the company is celebrating this milestone by introducing the all-new Seiko HDB003 5 Sports watch in India. To recall, Seiko already announced six limited-edition watches across Astron, Presage, Prospex, 5 Sports, and the Rotcall in Japan in June 2026. Now, the Japanese watchmaker has released the Seiko HDB003 limited edition model in India. It is limited to 9,999 pieces worldwide and scheduled for the October 2026 release in India. Although the exact India price and availability date have yet to be revealed.
In Japan, the Seiko HDB003 is priced at 63,800 Yen (~$402.80). It will be available for purchase starting 9 October in Japan. The HDB003 retains the SKX-inspired design, featuring a 42.5 mm stainless steel case paired with a classic black finish unidirectional rotational bezel and a three-row designed stainless steel bracelet with a three-fold clasp with push button release.
The vibrant purple dial is the star of the show here. Seiko says the dial color is inspired by "Edo-murasaki," a shade associated with clothing during Japan’s Edo period. There are multiple elements present on the dial, including a gold-colored Seiko 5 Sports branding, lumibrite-applied hands and indexes, and a day-date window positioned at 3 'o'clock.
Moreover, powering the watch is Seiko’s 4R36 automatic movement, which also supports manual winding. The automatic movement features 24 jewels, a stop-second function, and offers 41 hours of power reserve. At 187 grams, the timepiece is certainly on the heavier side. It uses a curved Hardlex crystal and offers 10 bar (100 m) water resistance. A screw-down, see-through caseback displays the mechanical movement, while the caseback also carries the limited-edition batching.
