Seiko's new wave of 145th anniversary limited editions trades gold and blue for Edo purple. Six watches are launching across Prospex, Presage, Astron, 5 Sports, and the Rotocall, with edition sizes running from 2,000 to 9,999 pieces. All arrive in October, pricing still unannounced.

Seiko just announced the third wave of limited editions in its 145th anniversary program. It's special, since this one uses a color the brand almost never uses. All six arrive in October 2026.

The anniversary rollout has run on a colour-coded structure through the year. February's opening group used gold accents across King Seiko, Prospex, Presage and Astron. The second wave, announced in May, was built around Seiko Blue — the shade the brand settled on during the 1960s. This third group uses what Seiko calls Edo purple, a reference to a dye colour that was popular in Edo-period Tokyo clothing.

The Astron HAB011J1 is the most limited of the set at 2,000 pieces. It runs the GPS-solar caliber 5X83 in a 43.3 mm titanium case with a ceramic and titanium bezel, and the dial utilizes a horizontal ridged pattern with a gradient finish.

The Prospex Speedtimer HBJ005P1 is a solar chronograph on caliber V192, 41.4 mm wide and 13 mm thick, with a two-tone aluminium tachymeter bezel that follows a Speedtimer from the 1960s-70s archive. It is limited to 8,000 pieces.

The Prospex Alpinist HBC006J1 brings its signature rotating compass inner ring and 20-bar rating to a 39.5 mm case on a leather strap, powered by the 72-hour caliber 6R55. Seiko is making 7,000 of these.

For the Presage Cocktail Time HCB006J1, the radial dial is meant to reproduce Edo Murasaki, a purple cocktail Seiko commissioned from Hisashi Kishi, head bartender at "STAR BAR" in Ginza. The case measures 40.5 mm and the 4R34 adds a stunning 24-hour hand. Limited to 6,000.

The Seiko 5 Sports HDB003K1 is the biggest release at 9,999 pieces and the most familiar shape of the group: the SKX case at 42.5 mm, caliber 4R36, on a three-row bracelet with a gold Seiko 5 logo.

Japanese pricing is now live ahead of a 9 October on-sale date there: 330,000 yen for the Astron HAB011J, 130,900 for the Alpinist HBC006J, 111,100 for the Speedtimer HBJ005P, 80,300 for the Presage HCB006J and 63,800 for the 5 Sports HDB003J, all including consumption tax. Other markets have not been priced.

King Seiko, which showed up in both earlier waves, sits this one out. A sixth Edo purple release also joins this lineup in October — a digital Seiko Selection built on the 1982 Rotocall. It is the only watch in the series that revives a discontinued model (instead of simply recolouring a current one), so we are covering it separately.
