Citizen’s new ultra-thin Eco-Drive One watch features a stunning forest green mother-of-pearl dial

Citizen has just announced a new ultra-thin dress watch in its Eco-Drive One lineup. The latest addition, the AQ5025-04N, combines the collection’s signature wafer-thin profile with a rich green mother-of-pearl dial, a black DLC-coated case, and a classic leather strap.

The Eco-Drive One collection has long been Citizen’s showcase for just how thin a solar-powered watch can be. The latest model measures 4.5mm thick, with Citizen’s 8845 Eco-Drive movement accounting for just 1 mm of that profile. It’s not the thinnest watch in the collection by any means—the limited edition forest green/black AR5065-54W that arrived in May was even thinner at 3.88mm. However, the AQ5025-04N still makes a strong case for itself as the more traditional dress-watch option.

The dial features a green mother-of-pearl center with a naturally shifting texture that changes with the light, surrounded by a darker green outer track with applied silver-tone hour markers. There’s also a small-seconds subdial at 6 o’clock that adds to the classic dress-watch look without overwhelming the dial.

The 36.6mm stainless steel case is finished in black with Citizen’s Duratect DLC surface-hardening treatment, and is paired with a matching black crocodile leather strap.

Powering this new Eco-Drive One is Citizen’s solar-powered 8845 movement, which itself is just 1mm thick. It runs on light, storing enough energy for approximately seven months of operation when fully charged, so there’s no regular battery replacement to worry about. Accuracy is rated at ±15 seconds per month. 

The ultra-thin profile means the watch doesn't boast a robust water resistance rating. Citizen says the watch is waterproof for daily life, but it’s not a watch you’ll want to take swimming.

Pricing & Availability

The Citizen Eco-Drive One AQ5025-04N is a limited edition of 250 individually numbered pieces worldwide. It officially launches in Japan on October 15 for ¥363,000 (~$2,307). Citizen has yet to announce pricing and availability for the US and other markets.
