Citizen's new full stainless-steel automatic features a clean, minimalistic black dial

As of September 25, Citizen has listed a new automatic on its UK site. The NJ0210-56E features a black dial with a stainless steel bracelet, and costs £299 (~$395). Citizen UK simply calls it the "Men's Bracelet."

It joins the NJ0210 series — Citizen announced it at the end of last year. That series launched with four watches: a black and a blue dial on leather, a white dial on a bracelet, and a green one. This black dial and bracelet combination is the newest addition, and it doesn't appear on Citizen's European site yet.

The case is 40 mm wide and a little over 13 mm thick. You get stepped lugs, plus a brushed and polished finish. The crystal is mineral glass, and there's a display case back so you can watch the movement work. Water resistance is rated at 50m. The bracelet closes with a fold-over clasp with push buttons.

The dial is extremely simple. It's black, with applied Arabic numerals, a printed minute track around the edge and a date window at 3 o'clock. The hands are polished and silver-toned.

Inside is Citizen's caliber 8210, the brand's entry-level automatic. It runs at 21,600 vph, holds a 40-hour power reserve, and can be hand-wound. It doesn't hack, though, so the seconds hand keeps running while you set the time. Citizen rates it at -20 to +40 seconds a day, which is what you'd expect at this price.

The £299 is worth a closer look, however. The bracelet models in this series launched in Europe at €249. Cut the VAT out of both and the UK price works out around 41% higher, or roughly $330 against $234. The NJ0210-56E is available to order now from Citizen UK, with free delivery.
