Citizen’s 350-piece handmade washi dial watch lands in more markets

Citizen’s second new Tosa washi, the Citizen limited edition, is making its way to North America after the pair’s initial announcement earlier this month. The AQ4106-00B has now appeared in Citizen’s regional catalogue, joining the red-dial AQ4100-65X that is already listed in the US.

The AQ4106-00B is the more unusual-looking of the two. It combines a 38.3 mm Super Titanium case finished in Duratect Sakura Pink with a white Tosa washi dial and brown crocodile leather strap. Citizen limits the model to 350 unnumbered pieces worldwide. Its dial uses Unryushi, a type of Japanese washi made by incorporating long fibres into the paper during the traditional papermaking process. The fibres leave irregular, cloud-like patterns across the dial, meaning no two watches have the same look.

The AQ4106-00B and AQ4100-65X use Citizen’s Calibre A060 Eco-Drive movement. The light-powered movement is rated to ±5 seconds per year and also offers a perpetual calendar, power-reserve indicator, time-difference correction, shock detection and automatic hand-position correction. Citizen also uses an instant date-change mechanism that switches the date at midnight rather than gradually advancing it.

Lastly, the AQ4106-00B is listed on Citizen’s Canadian website for CA$4,595 and on the US site for $3,095, making it $100 more expensive than the AQ4100-65X. Collectors based in the US can get it as early as October 2. Both watches are limited to 350 units apiece globally.
