Citizen has quietly added a new limited-edition model to its Eco-Drive One lineup, the AQ5010-01A. This watch has a dress watch-like design and Citizen’s thinnest Eco-Drive movement, packed into a sharply styled stainless-steel case just 4.5mm thick. Only 160 units are being made, making this a short-run collector piece. This reveal was spotted on @plus9time's Instagram page.
The AQ5010-01A uses a 36.6mm case diameter, which is moderate and fitting for formal occasions. The watch has a bright white dial, golden handset, and a black small seconds sub-dial that gives the face a layered feel. The chapter ring is framed in black, which gives the dial a strong contrast without losing out on legibility. All this is paired with a glossy black leather strap embossed with a crocodile pattern.
From the back, the watch clearly states its identity with a brushed caseback stamped with "000/160", referencing its limited-edition status. It runs on Citizen’s 8845 Eco-Drive movement, which powers the watch through ambient light and doesn’t need battery replacement. Duratect hardening, a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, and a Japanese-made build round out the premium spec list.
This model is more about visual sharpness over complication. There’s no date, no lume, and no extra hands. What you do get is a simple time-only layout with an off-center seconds dial. That minimalism feels very deliberate with this model. It’s also a return to focus for Citizen, which has been using the Eco-Drive One series to push engineering limits since it launched the thinnest light-powered movement back in 2016.
As expected, availability will be extremely limited, and pricing has not been formally listed yet by Citizen USA. Based on past models, we can expect it to be positioned in the premium range.
