Affordable Minisforum mini PC launches with dGPU support and two USB4 ports

The Minisforum MS-01 SE was initially showcased at IFA 2026, and the company has now made the affordable mini PC available for purchase. It is a cutback version of the non-SE mode but retains some flexibility.

One of them, for example, is the physical PCIe 4.0 x16 slot, which can be used to install a low-profile desktop GPU in the system. Of course, it's worth noting that the bandwidth is limited to PCIe 4.0 x4, the same as what an OCuLink 4.0 port brings to the table.

On that note, like the regular Minisforum MS-01 mini PC, there are two USB4 ports, which can be used to hook an eGPU or other high-speed accessories (Aoostar AG03 eGPU dock curr. $279 on Amazon). Both have DP Alt mode support, and with HDMI 2.0, the system gains triple-display output support.

Another notable aspect carried over from the MS-01 SE is the triple M.2 slot setup. Minisforum states that each can hold up to a 4TB SSD, but there's no reason why each of them cannot be equipped with an 8TB drive. With the dual 2.5GbE ports, this NVMe SSD slot setup makes the mini PC capable of acting like a NAS if required.

As for the main difference between the non-SE and MS-01 SE, it's the processor option and memory support. The newer and more affordable mini PC is powered by the Intel Core i5 12600H and can be equipped with up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM via the two SO-DIMM slots.

It's worth noting that the regular MS-01 is also available with the Core i5 12600H, but Core i9 12900H, Core i9 13900H, and Core i9 13900HK configurations are also available. There's currently only one option available for the SE mini PC, and unlike the slightly expensive system, it doesn't bring DDR5 memory support.

Minisforum is offering the barebone config of the MS-01 SE at $375 on the official store, while the non-SE starts at $439. Check out the pictures and spec sheet attached below to learn more about the newer model.
