Xiaomi releases first NAS with up to 60 TB storage, 2.5GbE and 4K HDR10

Xiaomi's first NAS, the Smart Storage, is now available in China. We previously covered the device when it entered crowdfunding in July 2026. Xiaomi later opened pre-orders ahead of its retail launch.

The Smart Storage has a two-bay design and supports both 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch SATA drives. Xiaomi says each bay can support drives with up to 30 TB of capacity, allowing for up to 60 TB of total storage. The pre-configured models come with two drives installed.

The NAS is powered by a Realtek RTD1619B processor and comes with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. Connectivity includes a 2.5GbE Ethernet port, HDMI 1.4 and a USB-A 3.0 port. The HDMI output supports up to 4K at 30 Hz.

Xiaomi is also focusing on backup and media features. The Smart Storage can automatically organize photos with its AI album feature and supports whole-device backups from Xiaomi phones running HyperOS 3.0 or later. Selected Xiaomi cameras can also record directly to the NAS, with Xiaomi claiming up to 360 days of surveillance storage for four camera streams.

The system supports up to 16 user accounts, allowing family members to share the NAS while keeping their data separate. Remote access is available from Android, iOS, Windows, macOS and Android TV devices, while Xiaomi lists up to 40 Mbps of free remote-access bandwidth.

For media playback, the Smart Storage supports 4K HDR10 video, wireless casting and HDMI output. Xiaomi also advertises automatic movie information matching and poster-wall creation, making the NAS suitable for storing and accessing a personal media library.

This NAS measures 200.5 x 85 x 161 mm and weighs around 2.3 kg. It has an aluminum frame and a relatively compact vertical design for a two-bay NAS.

Ugreen's NASync DXP4800 GT (available on Amazon), which we recently reviewed, has four drive bays and offers more room for storage and upgrades than Xiaomi's two-bay Smart Storage. In our tests, it handled large file transfers well and could also handle 4K Plex transcoding.

The TerraMaster F2-425 Plus is a closer alternative, as it is also a compact two-bay NAS. Unlike Xiaomi's model, it is sold without storage drives, so users need to purchase them separately.

The Xiaomi Smart Storage is currently available in China in three configurations: 4 TB for CNY 2,699 (around $402), 8 TB for CNY 3,499 (around $521) and 16 TB for CNY 5,499 (around $818). Xiaomi has not yet confirmed international availability.
