Japanese brand launches compact two-bay NAS with up to 48 TB storage and 2.5GbE

Newtech has introduced the Ness1300 as the successor to its Ness1200 desktop NAS. The new model combines updated hardware with Windows Server IoT 2025 and is aimed at clinics, small offices and surveillance installations where reliable storage and remote management are important.
The NAS uses an Intel Pentium G7400 processor with 8 GB of DDR5-4800 memory. A 240 GB M.2 NVMe SSD stores the operating system, while two 3.5-inch SATA HDDs are used for data storage. Each drive can have up to 24 TB of capacity, giving the NAS up to 48 TB of raw storage or 24 TB of usable space in RAID 1. Newtech offers 4 TB, 8 TB, 16 TB and 24 TB storage configurations.
Newtech uses its proprietary Kite hardware RAID controller for RAID 1 mirroring. It helps reduce the load on the CPU and can automatically rebuild the array when a drive is replaced. The system also supports hot-swapping, error recovery, patrol read and error-skip rebuilding.
A monitoring system can alert administrators when the HDDs or system run into problems, while error logs can be saved for later checks. There is also a BMC port for remote power control and hardware monitoring, which can be useful when the NAS is installed somewhere that is not easy to access.

Connectivity includes a 2.5Gb Ethernet port and two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, along with additional USB connectivity. The system also provides VGA output and a 9-pin D-Sub serial interface, with COM1 supporting RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485. These interfaces allow the NAS to connect to external equipment used in business and specialized installations.
The 154 x 270 x 188 mm (6.1 x 10.6 x 7.4-inch) chassis uses a large-diameter fan and a built-in 250W power supply. Its two-bay design is more limited than recent NAS systems such as the Beelink ME Pro, which uses newer Intel Panther Lake processors and is available in two- and four-bay configurations.
The storage layout is also simpler than the Minisforum N5 Air (currently available on Amazon), which supports five SATA drives and three M.2 slots. The Ness1300 instead combines two mirrored HDDs with hardware RAID, BMC management and Windows Server IoT 2025.
Newtech says the Ness1300 will go on sale in Japan in October 2026. The company has not announced fixed retail pricing or global launch details. The NAS comes with a three-year warranty.
