Xiaomi releases Pocket Guitar to transform Xiaomi 18 Pro and iPhones into musical instruments
Yesterday, Xiaomi introduced numerous devices in China. Principally, the company focused on the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max. Moreover, it also unveiled a smaller Watch S5 and a new Transparent Edition.
Alongside these, Xiaomi has started selling the Pocket Guitar accessory too. Spotted earlier this month, the Pocket Guitar simulates a guitar with multiple touch-sensitive buttons replicating chords and strings. Paired with the Changba app, the Pocket Guitar can then be used to play along to 15,000 licenced songs.
As the image below shows, the Pocket Guitar leverages the rear-facing displays on the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max. However, Xiaomi reports that iPhones running iOS 14 or newer are compatible too via the Changba app. In all cases, the Pocket Guitar connects over Bluetooth and stays in place with magnets.
Reportedly, the built-in 630 mAh battery will last over 30 days with 1 hour of daily gameplay. Not only that, but the inclusion of multiple magnets allows the Pocket Guitar to be used as a compact stand when needed. Xiaomi sells the Pocket Guitar for CNY 599 (~$89) in a choice of black and red colours. Given its reliance on a Chinese-facing app, it seems unlikely that Xiaomi will launch the Pocket Guitar globally.
