Meta Glasses gets a new $249 version, new styles and colors, and wider availability

The Meta Glasses launched this year as a more affordable pair to the Ray-Ban Meta glasses. While they are made in partnership with EssilorLuxottica, they are cheaper than their Ray-Ban and Oakley variants since they lack these luxury brandings. Now, Meta has announced a new version of the Meta Glasses with an even lower price tag, albeit with an important tradeoff.

The new Meta Glasses is available in only one style, which is Adventurer, and it comes with a black frame and grey lenses. It is priced at $249, $50 less than the Adventurer announced a few months ago (available on Amazon for $299). However, that lower price tag comes with the loss of a feature.

Unlike the standard Meta Glasses, the new Meta Adventurer as it is called doesn't come with an on-the-go charging case. Instead, it comes with a plug-in case which lacks a built-in battery. What this means is that, when the glasses need to be recharged, you need to plug in the case, unlike the on-the-go charging case which has a built-in battery that will provide up to an additional 40 hours of battery life.

There's not much you are missing save for the convenience of having your glasses charged when stored in the case. However, If you have a power bank, you can simply connect the plug-in case to it, so your glasses can charge.

The Meta Adventurer is available to pre-order now for $249/€259/£229 on Meta's website and will be released on October 23 in all markets where Meta Glasses are sold.

In addition to the new cheaper variant, the standard Meta Glasses have also received new styles. There's a new Ivory color for the Meta Glasses by Kylie Jenner with a $399 starting price and two new styles named Capri and Nova that are available in six and seven colors respectively. There's also a limited edition Meta Fury with a clear frame and mirrored lenses that will be available exclusively at Connect and Meta Labs when it launches.

Meta has also announced that its glasses (Oakley Meta, Ray-Ban Meta, and Ray-Ban Meta Optics) will be available in Turkey, Poland, Portugal, Israel, South Africa, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Malaysia, and the Philippines later this year.
