The Instinct 2 series is now eligible to receive its third v17.xx based stable update.
Garmin has delivered a new update for several of its older smartwatches. Rolling out globally, the new update is said to contain multiple improvements, including one aimed at restoring full Stealth Mode functionality on Tactical edition models.

Garmin has released a new update for the Instinct 2 series. To recap, the company introduced System Software 17.21 in late August for the Instinct 2 Solar, Instinct 2S Solar, Instinct 2X Solar and the Instinct Crossover Solar (curr. $259 on Amazon). As we discussed at the time, System Software 17.21 was said to resolve a Race Predictor issue while also making 'general security improvements.

Now, the company has announced a direct replacement, which it is distributing as System Software 17.22. In a forum post, Garmin claims to have already offered the new update to around 20% of Instinct 2 series owners. If that has not occurred in your case, you can request the update package manually by navigating through the main menu on your smartwatch to Settings, System and Software Update before selecting 'Check for Updates'.

Once updated, tones should always be silence in Stealth Mode on Tactical-branded smartwatches. Additionally, Garmin claims to have introduced 'miscellaneous' bug fixes and improvements. However, these only apply to the smaller Instinct 2S. Also, Garmin has not expanded further on what changes it has made in this regard, either. Please see Garmin's forum post for more details.
