New Garmin update fixes race predictions on multiple smartwatches with multiple security improvements too

Earlier this week, Garmin launched the Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro globally. Set to be available on August 28, the two smartwatches directly replace the Fenix 8 and Fenix 8 Pro as the company's flagship smartwatches. While Garmin is now focusing on new smartwatches, it continues to provide older models with new updates.

For instance, Garmin has just furnished the Instinct 2 series with System Software 17.21. Available globally, the new update replaces System Software 17.11 that arrived in May. As we discussed at the time, System Software 17.11 promised to restore solar charging support on the Instinct 2 Solar, Instinct 2S Solar, Instinct 2X Solar and the Instinct Crossover Solar (curr. $269 on Amazon).

This time, Garmin claims to have fixed an issue that caused incorrect race predictions after finishing a run. Additionally, System Software 17.21 is said to contain 'general' security improvements. Unfortunately, Garmin has not elaborated further. At the time of publication, System Software 17.21 should have reached around 50% of eligible smartwatches.
