A leak is said to show the design of the Garmin Fenix 9 and the Garmin Fenix 9 Pro for the first time, with the top-of-the-line model featuring both an AMOLED version and a MiP variant with integrated solar cells. Although Garmin is revamping the design, the smartwatches remain true to the Fenix look.

The Garmin Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro are expected to be officially unveiled as early as Tuesday, August 25. After rumors suggested that the Fenix 9 Pro would feature a new design with a titanium case that completely eliminates the use of plastic, GameraSnap shared images purported to be the first look at the next-generation flagship smartwatches.

As usual, such leaks should be viewed with caution. It cannot yet be independently verified that these images actually come from Garmin. If the images are genuine, they are obviously intended for the Chinese market, as the watch faces display characters in Mandarin. The Fenix 9 Pro is shown in three variants – with an AMOLED display and a case diameter of 43 or 47 millimeters, as well as with a MiP display and solar cells in a 47-millimeter body.

Compared to the Garmin Fenix 8 Pro ($1,049 on Amazon), Garmin has not only replaced the Micro-LED display with a MiP version but has also added an engraved "Fenix" logo on the right side. The bezel and back appear to be a single piece, which aligns with rumors of a titanium unibody. The basic shape, the inscribed bezel, the total of five buttons, and even the visible screws on the front appear to be carried over from the Fenix 8 Pro. The solar version apparently has slightly thicker screen bezels.

The more affordable Garmin Fenix 9 is shown only as a 47-millimeter version with an AMOLED display. The design of this model appears to be carried over almost unchanged from the Fenix 8, so the new features may be limited to the specifications. Whether the Garmin Fenix 9 (Pro) actually looks like it does in these images, and what new features can be expected aside from the design changes, should become clear at the latest during Tuesday’s launch event.
