Luffu Link from the Fitbit founders competes with Garmin CIRQA, features GPS and LTE
Fitbit co-founders James Park and Eric Friedman have announced a new wearable that, at first glance, looks like an alternative to the Fitbit Air ($99 on Amazon). That’s because the Luffu Link also lacks a display, offers a battery life of up to five days, and features heart rate and motion sensors to track activities, steps, and sleep, among other things.
Thanks to built-in speakers and microphones, however, the Luffu Link is said to offer many useful features. For example, it’s possible to log health data such as blood pressure in the companion smartphone app via voice command by reading the values from a standard blood pressure monitor and relaying them to Luffu. In addition to standard voice assistant features, such as setting reminders and taking notes, the microphone also allows users to call for help and send a message to emergency contacts.
For this purpose, Luffu Link also features a built-in GPS module and LTE modem, so the emergency service can be notified even when no smartphone is within range. Luffu Link only listens when the button is pressed, ensuring that privacy is not compromised. If the button is pressed twice in a row, the current location can be sent to pre-registered contacts. Luffu Link is water-resistant up to 5 ATM and is compatible with both Apple iPhones and Android smartphones.
Pricing and availability
Luffu Link is now available for pre-order in the manufacturer’s online store. Delivery is expected to begin in early 2027, though Luffu currently ships only to customers in the U.S. The wristband costs $249.99. A subscription is required to use the device, which costs $19.99 per month.
