Casio made just five of this special G-Shock — here's how rare it really is

Five G-Shock watches now exist that nobody can buy. Casio hasn't limited the standard GM-5600U-1JF, sold retail since December 2023 — it's the engraving on these five that makes them extremely rare.
VRChat Inc. announced on Thursday, 21 August, that it is giving away five GM-5600U-1JF units engraved with the VRChat logo, alongside the launch of a separate virtual item on its platform. Entry runs through three conditions: you have to follow the official Virtual G-Shock Japan account and VRChat's own Japan account on X, and post a photo on X of your avatar wearing a G-Shock inside VRChat, tagged #VRC_GSHOCK. Applications are open from 21 August through 30 September, Japan time. Five winners will be drawn from entrants who meet all three.
The giveaway is a part of a wider, three-year-old relationship between Casio and VRChat. Casio opened its first VRChat world, the G-Shock Store, in October 2023. That was followed by G-Shock "The Ride" that December. A VRC Boxing collaboration came through in February 2025, and a G-Shock City experience launched on The Sandbox that September. Casio has also earmarked another tie-in with the photo app "SNPIT" for June 2026.
The physical GM-5600U-1JF itself is pretty standard except for the engraving: a stainless steel bezel cover over a resin case, an inverted LCD display, and roughly five years of battery life from a single CR2016 cell. It is still sold new through ordinary retail channels.
