Deal | New all-time low: Fast-paced FPS with 97% positive reviews drops to around $7 on Steam

The fast-paced retro shooter CULTIC has earned 97% positive reviews on Steam and is 30% off for the first time. At its new all-time low of $6.28, Doom fans get hard-hitting gunplay, bloody firefights and ten dark and atmospheric levels.
Anyone who enjoys retro graphics and fast-paced shooters à la Doom might find a hidden gem in CULTIC. The game pits players against a mysterious cult and has earned exceptionally positive reviews on Steam. Released in 2022 and developed by Jasozz Games, the title is now 30% off on Steam for the first time, reducing its regular price from $9.99 to $6.99. There's a catch, though: The deal only runs until tomorrow, August 21, at 7 p.m. Thanks to its “Verified” status on the Steam Deck, the deal could also be interesting for handheld gamers.
CULTIC drops players into an area controlled by a fanatical cult. Its members are controlled by an unseen force and attack players in large numbers with firearms. The goal: take down the cult. Players run, jump and slide through the levels, dodge bullets and use cover to avoid getting caught in the crossfire. Just a few well-placed shots can take enemies down – but the player character cannot withstand much damage either.

Players have access to an extensive arsenal of historical firearms and explosives that can be upgraded throughout the game. How aggressively they approach combat is largely up to them: charge straight into the fray with a shotgun and dynamite, set traps, pick off enemies from behind cover or redirect enemy fire so that the cultists end up shooting each other. In addition to its ten-level campaign, the game also offers a wave-based survival mode.
According to PC Gamer, CULTIC offers hard-hitting gunplay with satisfying hit feedback and well-designed sound effects, as well as a varied arsenal of weapons. Combined with its distinctive retro look, this earned the game a solid score of 81/100. More than 8,500 Steam reviews are even 97% positive – and on Metacritic, CULTIC boasts a User Score of 9.0 and a Metascore of 82. Players should not expect any major innovations, however. Some levels in the second chapter also run a little too long, causing the pacing to lose momentum, particularly toward the end. Nevertheless, shooter fans are unlikely to go wrong with this title – especially at this price.
