James Pond returns in new Switch 2 collection

Good news for retro game fans: System 3 has announced The James Pond Legacy: The Pond Is Not Enough for Nintendo Switch 2. Spanning the Amiga 500, Mega Drive/Genesis, SNES and Commodore 64 consoles, the collection comprises 12 versions of four games:
- James Pond: Underwater Agent
- James Pond 2: RoboCod
- James Pond 3: Operation Starfish
- The Aquatic Games Starring James Pond and the Aquabats
System 3 states that the different versions retain the visuals, audio and gameplay of the original release, while the collection also includes an interactive "Pondverse" hub containing character profiles, biographies, information about the games and levels, original packaging artwork, and a timeline covering the series.
With an October release confirmed for Switch 2 and both physical and digital editions planned, the The James Pond Legacy: The Pond Is Not Enough is essentially a compilation that brings together the series' older games on modern hardware. The physical edition of the game is capped to 6,000 units worldwide, which may appeal to collectors in light of the debate surrounding digital ownership (or lack thereof) of games.
Lastly, a new studio-recorded song ("Maybe"), planned for release on Spotify and Apple Music ahead of the game’s launch in October, can be heard in the newly released game trailer below.
