IllFonic and Gun Interactive reveal Halloween: The Game's September 8 release schedule, Digital Deluxe early access, pricing, and 1v4 asymmetrical multiplayer mechanics.

Developer IllFonic and co-publisher Gun Interactive have confirmed final launch details for Halloween: The Game ahead of its global release on September 8, 2026. Built in Unreal Engine 5 with input from director John Carpenter and longtime franchise producer Malek Akkad, the game brings the 1978 slasher classic to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

1v4 asymmetrical mode adds active NPCs

The game pairs a six-chapter single-player campaign told from Michael Myers' perspective, narrated by Dr. Samuel Loomis, with a 1v4 asymmetrical multiplayer mode set in Haddonfield on Halloween night, 1978. Unlike Dead by Daylight, which isolates a single killer against four survivors in closed arenas, IllFonic's maps are populated with active NPC townsfolk who react to the threat. Three maps have been revealed so far: Haddonfield Heights, Haddonfield Town Center, and Orange Grove Estates.

Playing as Michael Myers, one player uses stealth and a teleportation ability called Shape Jump to stalk and eliminate residents before the night ends. The four hero players must warn NPCs, scavenge period-accurate household items and weapons, and convince civilians to call the police or follow them to designated escape routes. Survivors can briefly stun Michael, but he cannot be permanently killed, keeping pressure on the group throughout the match.

Pricing, editions, and release date

Digital pre-orders are live across all storefronts. The Standard Edition costs $39.99, and the $59.99 Digital Deluxe Edition adds four-day early access starting at 9 a.m. PT on September 4, 2026. Both editions include the pre-order exclusive Phantom Michael Myers skin, while the Deluxe Edition additionally includes the Inmate Michael Myers skin, two exclusive playable civilians named Richard and Alexis, advance access to a Laurie Strode cosmetic, and a digital comic. A Digital Deluxe upgrade will also be purchasable after launch, though the Phantom skin remains exclusive to pre-order customers.

Halloween: The Game launches officially on September 8, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, with cross-platform play supported across all systems. The game was refused classification in Australia in August 2026, meaning it will not be sold there at launch, following a ruling from the Australian Classification Board.
