Deal | 94% positive: Occult tactics game drops below $10 on Steam

In Sumerian Six, players are transported to an alternate version of World War II in which the Nazis are experimenting with occult forces, ancient Sumerian artifacts and a substance called Geiststoff. Players take control of the Enigma Squad, a group of unusual scientists and specialists. Its members include chemist Rosa Reznick, esotericist Siegfried von Adelsberg and Wojtek, who can transform into a powerful werebear. Together, the group sets out to stop their former colleague Hans Kammler, who plans to use Geiststoff and occult technology to alter the course of the war.

In terms of gameplay, Sumerian Six draws heavily on classics such as Commandos and Mimimi's Shadow Tactics, Desperados 3 and Shadow Gambit. Instead of shooting their way through the levels, players have to observe, plan and strike at the right moment. They analyze patrol routes and vision cones, distract guards or use their team members' special abilities to silently eliminate enemies. Particularly useful: Multiple actions can be planned in advance and then executed simultaneously.

Things get especially interesting with the specialists, as they also have a few supernatural abilities up their sleeves. In addition to the aforementioned werebear transformation, these include invisibility and a spirit form.

German gaming magazine PC Games reviewed Sumerian Six when it launched in September 2024, particularly praising its well-designed stealth gameplay, strong level design and varied character abilities. According to the review, the ability to combine different skills also regularly creates interesting tactical puzzles. On the other hand, the publication criticized the game for drawing heavily on Mimimi Games' titles while bringing relatively few ideas of its own. With a total of ten missions, the amount of content is also comparatively limited. In the end, PC Games awarded it 8 out of 10.

Metacritic lists Sumerian Six with a Metascore of 81, while the User Score stands at 8.4. By far the strongest verdict, however, comes from the Steam community: 94% of more than 1,200 user reviews are positive. On the Steam Deck, the game is rated as “Playable.”

Sumerian Six normally costs $29.99 on Steam. A 67% discount, however, brings the price down to $9.89 until September 9. According to SteamDB, this matches the game's previous all-time low, last reached in late July.
