Maneater 2 announced with 2027 release

Tripwire Interactive has officially announced Maneater 2, a sequel to its 2020 open-world action-RPG "ShaRkPG" hit, with Boston-based Demiurge Studios joining as co-development partner. Revealed during Sony's September 2026 State of Play, the predator simulator is scheduled to launch in 2027 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Store pages are already live for wishlisting. Since the original game launched in 2020, followed by the Truth Quest expansion in 2021, the franchise has drawn more than 20 million players worldwide.
Neptune's kingdom, an ultra-luxury seaside playground
The action moves from the bayous of the original game to Neptune's Kingdom, an ultra-luxury private-island theme park inspired by the grandeur of ancient Rome. Park CEO Victor Reardon has described it as an "exclusive gateway" that blends the excess of Las Vegas with old-school amusement park whimsy.
Players control a new, young female bull shark that finds herself trapped inside the park during an invite-only preview event after the facility's marine research division pushes technological and ethical boundaries too far. Neptune's Kingdom serves as an open, multi-tiered aquatic sandbox featuring varied biomes, currents, and waterways to navigate, monumental architecture, and rides for the shark to tear through.
Eat, explore, evolve, and escape
The original's "Eat, Explore, Evolve" loop returns with a fourth pillar, Escape, centred on breaking free of the park. Hunting the marine ecosystem, including pufferfish, jumbo crabs, piranhas, groupers, and unlucky VIP guests, builds resources the shark can spend on genetic modifications to its teeth, fins, and other body parts, unlocking new abilities and traits. Chris Parnell (Rick and Morty, Archer) reprises his role as disgraced reality TV host Trip Westhaven, delivering one-sided commentary as the park descends into chaos. Maneater 2 is also the series' first entry built on Unreal Engine 5, promising sharper water effects and lighting throughout the park.
Maneater 2 set for 2027
Maneater 2 is scheduled to launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Tripwire will self-publish the game across digital storefronts, while PLAION handles physical retail distribution.
