New information about GTA 6 has been revealed beyond the Netflix extended look. The map is significantly larger than previous instalments, including GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2.

The Netflix extended look for GTA 6 just aired, and it revealed quite a lot about gameplay mechanics. Captured on the base PS5, the game looks incredible, and while it may be locked at 30 FPS, it is going to be the biggest GTA game ever. Rockstar executives have been sharing details as part of the marketing push, and the latest piece of information sheds light on the size of the map, as well as how long it might take to complete the campaign.

Rob Nelson, who spoke with Dazed magazine and revealed some of the realistic character mechanics for GTA 6, also spoke with Brazilian creator Davy Jones. In that conversation, Nelson revealed that GTA 6’s Vice City is twice the size of Los Santos from GTA V. Furthermore, in terms of built-up area and density, it is 11 times larger. Plus, shortly after the intro, all of it will be open to players.

According to this infographic from six years ago, GTA V’s map was about 80 sq km, so GTA 6 will be around 160 sq km. Red Dead Redemption 2, on the other hand, had an estimated 75 sq km map. Of course, these are rough estimates that take into account some of the ocean regions and some out-of-bounds areas.

As for how long it would take someone to complete the campaign, Nelson shared that it is roughly comparable to Red Dead Redemption 2. This means GTA 6 will take somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 to 60 hours to complete. Of course, that depends on the time players spend exploring and doing side quests. Nelson also spoke with The New York Times and shared that back in February, it took him 80 hours to complete the game, but that included some optional goals as well.

Safe to say that players will be investing a lot of time in GTA 6. Rockstar and Take-Two have maintained that their goal is to offer immense value to players, especially considering the $80 base price.
