GTA 6 PS5 Pro ad offers discount on PlayStation console upgrade before release date

When pre-orders began, Sony promoted PlayStation consoles as the best way to play Rockstar’s next title. While enhanced for its flagship system, the GTA 6 PS5 Pro version's performance advantages remain a mystery. Nevertheless, the company is now encouraging buyers to upgrade their hardware with a 5% discount.
Prestigious_Wait7705 shared the advertisement on Reddit, which appeared on the base console’s dashboard. It asks gamers to purchase a PS5 Pro in time for the November 19th GTA 6 release date. After its latest price increase, the system now demands a hefty $899. However, PS Plus subscribers can obtain it at a slightly reduced cost.
Enhancements TBA
Frustrated fans note that Sony is running a promotion without listing the benefits of the enhanced game. That said, it’s not unusual for developers to wait until closer to a launch before revealing these details.
Typically, owners experience smoother performance and higher refresh rates. PSSR 2.0 upscales graphics from lower to higher resolution, reducing GPU load. More advanced ray-tracing effects are also possible. Yet there is debate over what frame rates and other perks are realistic for GTA 6 on the PS5 Pro.
Is 60 fps a fantasy?
On the cheaper PlayStation console, achieving higher than 30 fps may be challenging. Judging by previous trailers, Rockstar has boosted detail levels and packed scenes with NPCs. Digital Foundry believes that the upgraded hardware could offer a 40 fps/120 Hz mode. Still, the CPU-intensive title is less likely to include a more appealing 60 fps alternative.
Sony may hope that protests die down before resuming marketing for Lucia and Jason’s crime saga. Critics are livid that it will stop printing physical game discs in early 2028. Its social media post about the just-announced Netflix trailer/extended look on August 27 has been spammed with complaints.
Rockstar has not entirely escaped the firestorm, since the GTA 6 PS5 version also lacks a disc. Regardless, the code-in-box format likely won’t discourage console purchases. Rumors of a PS5 or PS5 Pro bundle with the game continue to circulate.
