Could Rockstar have already revealed GTA 6's loading screens more than a year ago?
Rockstar Games has already released numerous artworks for GTA 6. One fan now suspects that some of these images may not have been created solely for marketing purposes, but could later appear as loading screens in the game.

Stylized illustrations have been a core part of Grand Theft Auto's DNA since GTA 3. Rockstar not only uses them on game boxes and in promotional materials, but traditionally also for loading screens. It seems reasonable to assume that the studio will take a similar approach with GTA 6 (available to pre-order on Amazon) – and the images intended for this purpose may have already been released. Back in May 2025, Rockstar unveiled a series of artworks alongside the second GTA 6 trailer – and Reddit user u/Fanny-Paper-7464 suspects that these could be the game's loading screens. The user posted several images in the GTA 6 subreddit that could potentially fit the bill.

The idea has received plenty of support from the community. The top comment in the thread reads: "Well, now that you've mentioned it... They probably are" Since the artworks shown bear a strong resemblance to the loading screens in GTA 5, many fans consider the theory plausible. Some users admit that they simply had not considered that Rockstar might also use the previously released images as in-game assets. However, none of this has been officially confirmed. Rockstar currently lists the 22 released images simply as "Artwork & Wallpaper."

Fans are also discussing whether Grand Theft Auto VI will even need lengthy loading screens anymore. According to Sony, the game takes advantage of the PS5's fast SSD and is expected to offer "near-instant loading times." However, that does not necessarily mean there will be no loading screens at all. They could still appear when first launching the game, loading a save or entering GTA Online – even if they are only visible for a few seconds at a time. We may not have to wait much longer for answers. Rockstar's announced Extended Look is scheduled for August 27 and is said to be just an "hors d'oeuvre." After that, there will still be "appetizers, the main course and dessert" – and one of those will most likely be a gameplay trailer.
