New Ubisoft game: “Calling it slop disrespects actual slop”

The Division Resurgence was already released for Android and iOS at the end of March. On August 5, 2026, Ubisoft followed up with a free PC version of the looter shooter. The third-person shooter puts players in the role of an agent of the Strategic Homeland Division in a New York devastated by pandemics. Alone or in co-op, players fight hostile factions, collect better gear and develop their character. In addition to story missions and numerous open-world activities, the game also offers PvP modes and a Dark Zone with PvPvE combat.

The title has been fairly well received on Google Play and the App Store. The recently released PC version, however, is facing harsh criticism. User u/RenatsMC writes on the Gaming subreddit: "Calling it slop disrespects actual slop" – and is receiving plenty of support from the community. Of the roughly 1,600 reviews submitted so far, only 45% are positive.

The biggest criticism is the poor adaptation to PC. To many players, even the PC port still feels like a mobile game. Particular complaints include the touchscreen-oriented user interface, cluttered menus, limited graphics and sensitivity settings and issues with mouse and keyboard controls.

Monetization and daily limits cause frustration

The free-to-play model is causing even more frustration. Players criticize premium currencies, loot boxes, Battle Passes and potential pay-to-win advantages, which are said to be particularly noticeable in the Dark Zone and other PvP modes. At the same time, daily limits restrict how much experience, loot and mission rewards players can earn. As a result, the gameplay loop typical of looter shooters is repeatedly and artificially slowed down. This has led some players to mockingly describe the title as a "daily login simulator."

The community is not entirely in agreement, however. Some players find the free-to-play spin-off quite entertaining and accuse critics of reflexively bashing Ubisoft. That said, even positive reviews frequently acknowledge that Resurgence cannot compete with the two mainline games. The general consensus is therefore: perfectly serviceable as a mobile game, but disappointing as a barely adapted PC release.
