Details are emerging about how the PS5 Pro specs will benefit Crimson Desert. A new hands-on preview describes fluid 4K visuals, with performance that’s enhanced by upgraded PSSR upscaling. Despite positive signs, Pearl Abyss has yet to release footage of console versions.

Crimson Desert offers a massive open world that Pearl Abyss promises is larger than Red Dead Redemption 2. However, recently, concerns have been growing about how the game will fare on consoles. While available footage remains PC-based, a new preview has raised hopes for smooth Crimson Desert PS5 Pro performance.

Crimson Desert PS5 Pro Enhanced features

The PlayStation blog hands-on impressions reveal that the console will support “4K resolutions at higher frame rates”. Gamers will wait for specifics, but the hope is for a 4K/60 fps mode at max detail levels. Ray-tracing will also be an option for eerily realistic lighting effects.

Like Resident Evil Requiem, the title will employ what had been labeled as PSSR 2. Improved AI-powered upscaling enables the system to render clearer visuals without producing artifacts. High CPU Frequency Mode takes strain off processors as players explore the Pywel continent. Finally, Geometry Shader Oversubscription and NGC Culling tackle a never-ending stream of polygons.

Unfortunately, the Crimson Desert preview doesn’t give many specifics about performance on the base PS5. Still, the stock SSD could prevent stuttering or excessive loading times. Also, the article confirms DualSense features, including advanced haptic feedback and adaptive triggers during combat.

Until other websites gain access to the PS5 Pro Enhanced game, the blog post likely won’t quiet all critics. Pearl Abyss marketing Director Will Powers confronted the skepticism on social media. He claims that the studio will share console footage before the March 19th Crimson Desert release date. Regardless, as the days dwindle, followers are growing increasingly anxious.

If the game struggles on the PS5 or Xbox Series X, it may be an incentive to upgrade to the flagship PlayStation hardware. There are already signs that the successful Resident Evil Requiem has boosted the system's sales. The updated PSSR has convinced some buyers that the PS5 Pro can rival the performance of pricier gaming PCs.
