Promising to be one of the most expansive open-world games ever made, Crimson Desert is set to release on March 19. Production studio Pearl Abyss recently confirmed the presence of Denuvo on the game, and while that has received widespread criticism, the company's official stance may assuage fears.
As shared by Paul Tassi on X, Pearl Abyss claims that the addition of Denuvo has had no negative effect on the game's performance, with all revealed performance metrics so far being tested on versions of the game with Denuvo implemented.
The benchmark videos and performance specs we released were all created with the exact same implementation of Denuvo that is in the launch build. This includes the performance videos by Digital Foundry. It's important that reviewers and benchmarkers' experience with the game is ultimately representative of the final consumer's experience."

Denuvo, while renowned for being a notoriously difficult-to-crack DRM, has also gained a reputation for negatively impacting performance. To be exact, tests have shown some titles to see frame rates drop by up to 30FPS with the DRM activated. Thankfully, though, it appears Crimson Desert may avoid that particular pitfall.
