Galaxy S26's nifty camera features are coming to Galaxy S25

The Galaxy S26 series comes with a few interesting upgrades over the previous generation. While the base and Plus models lack the Privacy Display of the Ultra, all three have got an upgraded camera feature – Virtual Aperture. While the Galaxy S25 series also supports this feature, it is in a limited capacity.
According to the Korean community page for Galaxy S26 Camera/Gallery, a user asked if the Galaxy S25 Ultra could support Virtual Aperture for the telephoto camera through the ExpertRaw app. A Samsung executive and moderator of the community responded by sharing that Samsung will add this feature up to the Galaxy S25. The Galaxy S25 series already supports Virtual Aperture for the main camera, but now, it looks like the telephoto shooter (3x and 5x) will also support this functionality, soon.
Virtual Aperture allows for adjusting the level of bokeh or background blur through software, since the aperture on smartphones cannot be physically adjusted, unlike DSLRs. This feature was introduced with the Galaxy S25 series and then upgraded with the Galaxy S26 series.
Speaking off, there is another feature coming to the Galaxy S25 series, and that’s the AI document scanning. In a response to another user’s question, the executive said that the company currently anticipates the feature to be available up to the Galaxy S25. Notably, all Android phones can scan documents, either natively, or through Google Drive. The Galaxy S26’s AI-based document scanning allows for adding translation, text, and drawing capabilities, in addition to the basic multi-page scanning functionality.
For now, there is no timeline, but it’s good to know that Samsung is bringing some of these features to its older flagship as well.
