Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8: Insider comments on price and upgrades

The already leaked Galaxy Unpacked date in July will most likely bring three new foldables. Alongside the successors to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, the focus will likely be on the new third model in the lineup, which is apparently planned as a direct rival to Apple’s first foldable in September, whether it ends up being called iPhone Ultra or something else.
Expectations for Samsung’s 2026 flip phone are already fairly low, especially since CAD-based renders have already shown a strong resemblance to its predecessor. At the time, there was talk of a slightly thinner design, although dimensions are always a bit tricky with foldables. The well-known South Korean blogger Landsk has now summarized what will actually change on the Galaxy Z Flip 8, apart from a new processor, possibly the Exynos 2600, based on information from a supply chain insider.
The list is quite short. It mentions a minimally changed chassis height and a new hinge design that makes the phone 0.02 inches thinner when folded. A "crease-free display design" could be more noticeable, and it will apparently be used not only in Samsung’s large foldables this year but also in the Galaxy Z Flip 8. Last but not least, the weight is listed at 6.3 to 6.6 oz, meaning there is little to no change from its predecessor.
The list of specs that have not changed is almost longer. These include the battery capacity and charging speed, which will still be limited to 25W. The camera module is also said to be identical to the Galaxy Z Flip 7. The same probably applies to smaller components such as the speakers and vibration motor. Nevertheless, Samsung is apparently planning a "slight price increase" for Korea. Whether or not that will also affect the US market remains to be seen.
