Goodbye double storage: Samsung's pre-order deal is officially history

We are less than 24 hours away from the unveiling of Samsung's next generation of smartphones and wearables (July 22, 2026, 3:00 PM CEST), which is also rumored to include a small surprise. It is known that Samsung will, as expected, showcase the new foldable devices Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, and the Z Flip 8. The Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2 are also set to be presented.

Anyone planning to order the new smartphones might have already been looking forward to the pre-order deal we’ve been accustomed to from Samsung for years: Instead of 256 GB of storage, you previously received 512 GB, and instead of 512 GB, you got 1 TB. A few days ago, an industry insider already suspected that this offer would no longer be available in its usual form. Unfortunately, this theory has now proven true.

In a newsletter email today, Samsung Austria already detailed the upcoming offers. Instead of getting more storage for free, customers now get the option of a discounted upgrade. When buying the 512 GB model, a €100 deduction is applied in the shopping cart; when buying devices with 1 TB, there is a €200 discount. Assuming the leaked euro prices from a few days ago turn out to be accurate, upgrading to more storage will cost exactly half as much as it will after the pre-order period. Since this exactly confirms the industry insider's information, it is safe to assume that a similar policy will apply not only in Austria but also in many other countries.
