Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 launches as the thinnest and lightest flip yet with two 120Hz displays

Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Flip8 at Unpacked in London today. It weighs 180 grams and measures 6.1 mm unfolded — both the lightest and thinnest figures the Flip line has hit. The folded thickness is 13.1 mm.

The phone, which has what Samsung refers to as an "Armor aluminum" frame, runs on Exynos 2600, a 2 nm 10-core chip clocked up to 3.8 GHz, with 12 GB RAM across both storage variants — 256 GB and 512 GB. The 6.9-inch Super AMOLED 2X main display runs at 120 Hz with 2520x1080 resolution and 2600 nit peak brightness. The external FlexWindow is 4.1 inches at 120 Hz and 1048x948 resolution. Samsung has added more to what the cover screen can do this generation. The "My Day" summary, app shortcuts, and Gemini-based automation are now accessible from it without opening the phone. Automation can also be triggered via the side button or voice commands.

Camera-wise, there's a 50 MP main camera with OIS and autofocus, a 12 MP ultrawide, and a 10 MP front shooter. There is no telephoto. The 50 MP sensor gets Samsung's ProVisual processing engine this generation. The company claims that it improves portrait rendering and natural skin tones. Video tops out at UHD 60 fps; unlike the Fold8 Ultra, the Flip8 does not support 8K recording. Stabilization options include Super Steady with horizontal lock, if you're shooting handheld video through the cover screen. You still get Flex mode, alongside a manual camcorder mode with a physical zoom slider has been added for one-handed video recording.

Battery is 4300 mAh. Wired charging is capped at 25 W, which is slower than the Fold8 Ultra's 45 W dual-channel system. Wireless and reverse wireless charging are both supported. The phone runs Android 17 with One UI 9.0, covers 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC, and carries an IP48 rating. Color options are Graphite, Cream, and Pink, with an online-exclusive Mint colorway (see below).
