Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 and 8 could soon receive One UI 9 Watch based on Wear OS 7

Shortly before the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Watch9, Tarun Vats discovered internal beta versions of One UI 9 Watch for the Galaxy Watch7, with build numbers L300XXU2CZG4 and L300OXM2CZG4, on Samsung’s servers. This is a clear indication that beta testing for the next major operating system version will begin soon, likely at the same time as beta testing for the Galaxy Watch8 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra ($649 on Amazon). 

The Galaxy Watch9 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 are expected to ship with One UI 9 Watch pre-installed. Details regarding the rollout of the update for older models, as well as the new features of this major operating system update, could be confirmed in just a few hours during the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked launch event. However, One UI 9 Watch is likely to include at least the improvements that Google has already brought to the Pixel Watch 4 with Wear OS 7. These include a number of technical enhancements designed to extend battery life by up to 10 percent.

Revamped widgets are expected to be significantly more interactive and will largely adopt the design of Android widgets, which should make developing Wear OS widgets less time-consuming. Wear OS 7 allows users to stream music simultaneously to multiple speakers or headphones via Google Cast or Bluetooth. The new Gemini API also makes it possible to integrate third-party apps into the AI assistant, allowing it to control even more functions of the smartwatch.
