New Raspberry Pi Display launches with 1200p IPS panel and 10-point multitouch

Beyond its wide array of single-board computers, the Raspberry Pi Foundation also maintains an extensive ecosystem of official accessories. The latest addition is the 10-inch Raspberry Pi Touch Display 2, an interactive touchscreen designed specifically for SBC setups. Boasting a sharp resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels across an active display area of 135.4 x 216.6 mm, the panel promises crisp visuals.

Besides its larger physical footprint and higher resolution, the 10-inch model introduces key technical upgrades over its 5- and 7-inch siblings. Most notably, it upgrades from a basic TFT panel to an IPS display. Multitouch capabilities have also doubled, supporting up to ten simultaneous touch points instead of five. The display reaches a brightness of 400 cd/m², with touch response times rated at up to 35 milliseconds. Power delivery bypasses traditional USB or DC jack connections, relying instead on a 5-volt supply via the GPIO header. Video signals are transmitted over DSI using a flexible flat cable (FFC).

According to the Raspberry Pi Foundation, the 10-inch model is officially compatible only with the Raspberry Pi 5 and Compute Modules. However, this limitation requires some nuance. While geared toward the official ecosystem, the primary constraint stems from hardware requirements, as older Raspberry Pi models lack the necessary four-lane DSI interface. The 10-inch Raspberry Pi Touch Display 2 is listed at $80, though widespread retailer availability appears somewhat limited at launch. Suitable alternatives are available via retailers such as Amazon.
