Forlinx is introducing a new alternative to the Raspberry Pi. The single-board computer (SBC) is tailored to specific application scenarios, allowing sensors and actuators to be connected as usual.

Forlinx has listed the AM62L32 Local EVM, a new single-board computer designed as an industrial alternative to the Raspberry Pi. Rather than targeting everyday consumers, Forlinx is aiming primarily at commercial clients. As is typical for such hardware, the company does not publicly disclose pricing information.

Given its entry-level hardware, the AM62L32 Local EVM is not suited for use as a desktop system. It is powered by Texas Instruments' AM62L32 SoC, featuring two Cortex-A53 cores clocked at up to 1.25 GHz, paired with a modest 512 MB of LPDDR4 RAM. On the storage front, the board includes 8 GB of onboard eMMC flash—a feature not always guaranteed on single-board computers—along with a microSD card slot for expansion. Software support covers Linux 6.12 distributions.

Measuring 153.45 x 96 mm, the board can drive a display despite lacking standard video connectors like HDMI. Instead, output is handled via MIPI-DSI—capable of Full HD resolution at 60 fps—or multiplexed through parts of the GPIO header. Network connectivity is robust with two Gigabit Ethernet ports, while a USB 2.0 Type-A port handles standard peripherals. External components, such as sensors and actuators, can be integrated via I2C.
