According to the latest report from GalaxyClub, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 will feature a 50 MP main shooter, a 12 MP ultrawide camera, and a 10 MP front-facing camera. If this setup sounds familiar, it’s probably because the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 (approx. $899 on Amazon) offers three cameras with the same resolutions.
This doesn’t necessarily mean Samsung hasn’t upgraded the hardware. For instance, the company could still introduce larger sensors or faster lenses. However, substantial upgrades, such as a 200 MP main camera or a 50 MP ultrawide lens, are unlikely for the upcoming flip phone. There is also no mention of a telephoto camera. Samsung thus continues to lag behind its competitors in the camera department. For comparison, the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 offers a 50 MP ultrawide camera and a 32 MP front-facing camera.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 is expected to be officially unveiled in July. GalaxyClub’s report suggests that the device will retain its predecessor’s pricing, meaning the base model with 256 GB of storage could retail for $1,100. Whilst Samsung might include the new Exynos 2600 processor, it remains unclear what other enhancements are planned. For reference, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 features a foldable 6.9-inch AMOLED display with HDR peak brightness of 2,600 nits, a 4.1-inch secondary display, and a 4,300 mAh battery with wireless charging support.
