The streak ends: Galaxy Z Flip 8 tipped to skip battery upgrade

Samsung has been making advancements in the foldable space, with every new iteration bringing some much-needed improvements over the last. The Galaxy Z Fold series has slimmed down over the years while the Galaxy Z Flip series has seen larger cover displays and bigger batteries. However, if the latest leak turns out to be accurate, the Galaxy Z Flip battery upgrade streak ends with the Z Flip 8.
Early information from GalaxyClub suggests that the battery capacity for the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will remain the same as the Galaxy Z Flip 7 (buy on Amazon). The report states that the two batteries for the Galaxy Z Flip 8 – EB-BF776 and EB-BF777 – are rated at 1,150 mAh and 3,024 mAh, respectively. This totals to 4,174 mAh, the same capacity as the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Samsung advertises this capacity as 4,300 mAh.
Which also means no silicon carbon this year either. There were reports of Samsung testing silicon carbon batteries and that the first phone could launch soon, possibly being the Galaxy S26 Edge. The foldables, however, will be sticking to old tech, or so it seems. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 came with a 3,700 mAh battery, the same as its predecessor. But for the past two iterations, Samsung has managed to increase the capacity. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 had 4,000 mAh and the Galaxy Z Flip 7 comes with 4,300 mAh.
This information adds to other disappointing leaks about the Galaxy Z Flip 8’s cameras. It is said to carry the same camera setup as the Z Flip 7, at least in terms of megapixels. There is a possibility that Samsung upgrades to larger aperture or faster lenses. As for pricing, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to cost the same as the predecessor. Of course, things might change in this chaotic RAM and storage price market.
