Samsung Galaxy Z ‘Wide’ Fold first look hints at what to expect from the cheaper foldable

Samsung is said to be working on another style of foldable, a book style device that will have a wider aspect ratio. The naming for said device is unclear but it has been associated to a specific model number and an internal codename, as per previous leaks. Till now, there were only user generated renders for the phone but now, it looks like we have a more official look for it.
Android Authority and wr3ckl3ss on Telegram were able to discover animations within some APKs that show the Wide Z Fold opening and closing. Of course, we cannot make out any details about the cameras on the back or the buttons on the sides, but it does give an idea about the wide aspect ratio, the selfie camera cutouts, and the overall form factor. There is a selfie camera cutout on the front display and another one on the inside display, just like the Galaxy Z Fold 7(buy on Amazon).
These animations were linked to the internal codename H8, which is believed to be for the model number SM-F971U, which in turn is believed to be for the Wide Fold. Yes, there’s a lot of speculation here, but considering Samsung’s model number for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 – SM-F966U – and the expected model number for the Z Fold 8 – SM-976U – the Wide Fold reference makes sense.
Recently, the same model number also showed up as part of a test firmware for One UI 9. This suggests Samsung is testing the new OS on the Wide Fold to get it ready for launch later this year, alongside the Z Fold 8 and the Z Flip 8. As for specifications, the phone may come with a 4:3 aspect ratio for the main internal display that measures 7.6 inches. The cover display is said to measure 5.4 inches. It will also be a cheaper alternative to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and will launch in more markets than the Galaxy Z TriFold.
