Philips Hue Bridge Pro may become inoperable after latest update

Several users of the Philips Hue Bridge Pro ($99 on Amazon) have reported on Reddit that their Bridge is no longer working after the latest firmware update. Affected Bridges now only display a red status LED and no longer respond to inputs from light switches or the smartphone app. The issue reportedly persists even after a restart and can only be resolved by having the Philips Hue Bridge Pro repaired or replaced by Signify.
HueBlog believes that firmware version 2071353020 is responsible for this issue. This update was intended to fix only minor bugs and has been rolling out to the Philips Hue Bridge Pro since June 4. Judging by the number of user reports, the issue currently affects only a few bridges. Even though the update is causing problems for only a few users, it is recommended to temporarily disable automatic updates if the latest firmware version has not yet been installed. This is because the Philips Hue Bridge Pro still does not offer a backup function.
So if a Hue Bridge Pro is replaced or reset to factory settings due to a malfunction, all Philips Hue lights and accessories must be set up again. For a setup that includes dozens of lights, hardwired light switches, and remote controls, this can quickly add up to several hours of work, not least because all scenes and integrations with third-party apps such as Apple Home or Google Home must also be reconfigured.
