Garmin has launched a new stable update to several of its latest high-end smartwatches. A departure from recent software releases, System Software 22.43 should introduce various improvements aimed at refining security on both the Fenix 8 and Fenix 8 Pro.

Garmin has returned with a new update for the Fenix 8 and co. To recap, the company issued Beta Version 23.25 only a few days ago. Also available on the Fenix 8 Pro (curr. $949 on Amazon), the update was said to suffer from multiple bugs, despite being the ninth build in this beta cycle.

Now, the company has returned with a fresh update for its stable software participants. However, it is not a long-awaited 23.xx update. Instead, Garmin has reverted to v22.xx builds, the development of which it hoped to have finished almost three months ago.

This time, the company has pushed System Software 22.43, which it is distributing to the Enduro 3, Fenix 8, Fenix 8 Pro, Fenix E and associated smartwatches. A look at Garmin's forums reveals that the new update has not reached the Tactix 8 yet, though. If past releases are anything to go by, System Software 23.43 will reach the Tactix 8 in the next few days.

In the meantime, System Software 22.43 is already said to have been offered to around 20% of eligible smartwatches. As always, one can request the new update manually should you still be awaiting on an over-the-air (OTA) notification. Unfortunately, Garmin is remaining rather coy about what changes System Software 22.43 contains over System Software 22.41. For the time being, the company merely states that the new update includes 'general security improvements'. Please see Garmin's forum post for more details.
