More specs emerge: Asus Googlebook CX9406 laptop with fancy "Glowbar" light

We have already reported on the leaked Asus Googlebook CX9406 laptop, which happens to be among the many Googlebooks from other OEMs which appear to have been lined up for launch. Now, it appears that we know more about the laptop than just its product name.

Spotted by our friends over at Videocardz, it appears that key specs for the upcoming Asus Googlebook laptop have already leaked. To be honest, the specs are rather unsurprising - latest Intel Core Ultra 5 325 or Core Ultra 7 335 "Panther Lake" chips with up to 64 GB of LPDDR5X RAM. Given just how pricey memory has gotten of late, the high-end memory options will almost certainly be prohibitively expensive.

The Core Ultra 5 and Core Ultra 7 are both very capable chips, although the difference between the two in synthetic benchmarks is only around 5%. Moreover, neither of the CPUs feature the new impressively powerful Arc B390 iGPU. Of course, a Googlebook is not aimed at gaming or raw performance, sharing its philosophy with the Chromebooks we have known for years.

Based on previous leaks, we do know that the Asus Googlebook will utilize an ultralight ceramic chassis which is reportedly 34% lighter, while also being 13% more durable than "conventional" materials. It is not exactly clear what the word "conventional" refers to here - since there are laptops with wildly different materials resulting in equally diverse longevity performance.

A new "Glowbar" will also also be fitted on the lid, setting the Googlebooks apart from other laptops. The LED strip will glow in Google's brand colors, and will also serve functional purposes, such as displaying notifications. This likely similar to the new HiLight feature found on the new Pixel 11 line (starting from $899 on Amazon).

Launch and pricing details are not clear as of this writing. Considering just how expensive premium laptops have gotten recently, the new array of Googlebooks is definitely unlikely to be cheap.
