Lenovo releases new 14-inch laptop internationally with 32 GB RAM, over 17 hours battery life and Intel Wildcat Lake
Lenovo has expanded its V laptop series again, having released the V15 Gen 7 and V17 Gen 7 in the last few weeks with Intel Wildcat Lake processors. Incidentally, the company has just launched the V15 Gen 6 with AMD Ryzen 10 processors.
Now, Lenovo has packaged Intel's Wildcat Lake platform inside a 14-inch chassis. Specifically, the company has released the V14 Gen 7 across much of East Asia and Southeast Asia. Moreover, we have already found official listings showing the 14-inch as 'coming soon' in Europe. On top of that, Lenovo's PSREF website confirms that the company has already assigned SKUs for a global launch.
In the meantime, the V14 Gen 7 starts at HKD 8,848, KRW 1,268,201, JPY 125,950, MYR 4,000 and SGD 1,360 (~$1,062) in Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore, respectively. In other words, the V14 Gen 7 is marginally cheaper than the larger V15 Gen 7 with the same Intel Wildcat Lake processors. Nonetheless, the V14 Gen 7 is much pricier than older Raptor Lake H-based models (curr. $699 on Amazon), which retain a sizeable CPU performance advantage according to our benchmarks.
With that being said, these new Intel Wildcat Lake-based models are far more power efficient thanks to refined lithography combined with newer performance and low-power efficient cores. To that end, Lenovo claims that the V14 Gen 7 extracts over 17 hours from its 47 Wh battery in the JEITA-BAT 3.0 test at 200 nits. Likewise, the laptop is said to deliver 15.7-hour runtimes in PCMark 10 at 120 nits and 10.81 hours in MobileMark 30 at 250 nits.
By default, the V14 Gen 7 ships with a TN panel resolving at 1,920 x 1,080 pixels in a 16:9 aspect ratio with 300 nits peak brightness, a 500:1 contrast ratio, 45% NTSC colour space coverage and a 60 Hz refresh rate. Alternatively, the laptop can be configured with a 1080p IPS panel. While this contains an identical refresh rate and peak brightness, it surpasses its TN counterpart with superior viewing angles and an 800:1 contrast ratio.
The V14 Gen 7 starts with the Core 3 304 or Core 5 315, depending on the country in which it is purchased. All entry-level configurations contain 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage and a TN panel. Lenovo allows people to swap in the Core 5 320 or Core 7 350 though, as well as 16 GB or 32 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM, a 512 GB or 1 TB SSD and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity.
