Lenovo's Lunar Lake ultraportable just got a cheaper Chinese cousin, but a closer look at the listing suggests the "downgrade" isn't China only, but a global configuration hiding under new branding.

A new JD.com listing has surfaced for the Lenovo Zhaoyang Yue Air 14 (昭阳·悦 Air 14), a 14-inch ultraportable that shares its core platform with the ThinkBook X AI 2026, the Chinese sibling of the globally launched ThinkBook 14x ILL. The key differences lie in the display and battery. While the ThinkBook X AI 2026 offers a 2880 x 1800 OLED panel with a peak HDR brightness of 1,100 nits and a 65 Wh battery, the Zhaoyang Yue Air 14 uses a 1920 x 1200 IPS screen with 100% sRGB coverage and a 120 Hz refresh rate, paired with a smaller 54.7 Wh battery. Both configurations exist within the global ThinkBook 14x ILL lineup, but the Zhaoyang Yue Air 14 marks the first time this specific combination has appeared in China.

The only listed configuration pairs an Intel Core Ultra 7 258V with 32 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, and it includes dual SSD slots. The chassis weighs about 1 kg and measures 12.9 mm at its thinnest point. Ports comprise two USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, an HDMI output, and a combo audio jack, alongside dual-antenna Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth. Convenience features include a fingerprint reader integrated into the power button, an IR camera for Windows Hello, a 1080p webcam with a privacy shutter, and a 180-degree hinge.

Lenovo prices the laptop at CNY 8,499 (~$1,260), already discounted from CNY 8,999 (~$1,330), undercutting the OLED-equipped ThinkBook X configurations while retaining the same Lunar Lake silicon and port layout.
