The Elder Scrolls VI "live playthrough" impresses Xbox CEO with scale and story

It would be an understatement to say that millions of gamers are eagerly awaiting the release of The Elder Scrolls VI, the next installment in Bethesda’s long-running and enormously popular RPG series. However, aside from a short teaser trailer that debuted all the way back in June 2018, we have yet to hear anything about the game. But, things change in the near future, as it seems like the development of The Elder Scrolls VI has picked up.

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has apparently seen the game in all its glory. Asha Sharma proclaimed on X that she had experienced a “live playthrough of The Elder Scrolls VI: ******** this morning”. The Xbox CEO praised the scope of the game, exclaiming that “the scale and grandeur are incredible. The story is even greater”.

This is precisely what many The Elder Scrolls fans wanted to hear. The Elder Scrolls VI has some big shoes to fill, as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is considered by many to be among the greatest games ever made.

So, The Elder Scrolls VI will need to be just as good if not better to quench the thirst of gamers that have not gotten a new TES game since 2011, if we discount the release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.

Additionally, while Asha Sharma’s remarks about The Elder Scrolls VI don’t tell us a lot about the game, we can conjecture that the game could be coming along nicely. This is all in accordance with Sharma’s plan of refocusing on Xbox’s core IP and accelerating the development of blockbuster games like Fallout, Halo, The Elder Scrolls VI, and more.

Since we also know that Obsidian is officially developing a new Fallout game, the next few years could see the return of two of the biggest Bethesda games to the limelight. This is a great development for the next-gen Xbox Helix which will need to have some killer exclusive games early in its lifecycle to get a strong start.

Finally, if you noticed carefully, Asha Sharma redacts the name of The Elder Scrolls VI. It seems to be eight characters long. So, we can't wait read up on all the fan speculation about what the title could be.
