Leaked Xbox publisher roadmap confirms Disc to Digital in August, original Xbox games on PC in October, and Xbox 360 support starting in 2027

Leaker eXtas1s has published what's described as a Microsoft roadmap sent to publishers, laying out the rollout schedule for Xbox's Disc to Digital program and its wider backward compatibility push.
The mechanism: inserting a supported disc generates a digital license tied to that specific disc rather than to the owner's account. Selling or trading the disc reportedly transfers the license to the new owner, avoiding a permanent duplicate copy. The leaked email frames this as low-lift for publishers: Xbox reportedly handles engineering, certification, and support, while publishers retain control over rights, pricing, and branding and choose whether to opt in.
Participation is optional, and publishers can charge for the digital conversion, so pricing and catalog coverage will vary. Series S is excluded since it has no disc drive.
Xbox 360 support is the vaguest part of the document. The wording promises a rollout across "next-gen Xbox devices" without specifying whether that means PCs, future consoles, handhelds, or all three.
None of this has been confirmed by Microsoft. Treat the roadmap as credible but unofficial until Xbox makes an official statement.
